If you were a boss in WoW, what sort of boss would you be? Would you be an easy loot pinata? Or would you be a really hard one? What would your special abilities be? What sort of loot would you drop?

A boss fight with Marariel wouldn't necessarily be difficult, but it would require every member of the group/raid to know the fight and be on their toes. It would also require a caster tank with tons of shadow resistance.
I envision Marariel's environment similar to that of Shadowfang Keep in that raids would be required to navigate a large castle or keep-like structure. This castle would be well stocked with demons of all sorts. The only other boss besides Marariel would be a twin event, featuring her faithful Felguard and Voidwalker. The Voidwalker would be immune to all damage except when he shields the Felguard. The Felguard would be a largely tank-and-spank fight with cleave and a brief physical stun.
This fight setup would require groups to carefully manage their damage in order to take out the Voidwalker while he is busy shielding the Felguard. If the Felguard is killed, the Voidwalker will remain immune to all damage and eventually wipe the group.
The fight would take place in Marariel's study (where she would be appropriately infuriated at being interrupted). The bookshelves would be stacked two stories, with a small balcony for the second floor. During the opening scene of the fight, Marariel would destroy the ladders and stairs that would otherwise allow access to her balcony.
Marariel will remain out of melee range for the duration of the fight. This doesn't mean that there isn't anything for melee players to do, however. Every 40 seconds Marariel will summon a Doomguard to her aid. Capable of brief AOE stuns, cleave, and Rain of Fire, these will need to be taken down quickly. This is especially true later in the fight, as each time a Doomguard is summoned a piece of the floor will disappear. Anyone standing on this piece of floor is lost until the battle is over.
When Marariel's health reaches 35% she will transform, similar to metamorphosis. She is a demonologist at heart, of course. Only a small portion of the floor will remain at this point, and everyone standing on it will receive shadow damage every three seconds. Marariel will also gain the benefits of metamorphosis: additional armor, higher damage, faster cast times. The group will need to take her down very quickly at this point.
Marariel's main attack, in addition to summoning Doomguards, will be a Shadowbolt spell that also applies a debuff to the person with the highest aggro. Priests will be valuable to dispel this effect. She will occasionally alternate this with a Shadowbolt Volley and a Fear that will apply damage and fear to up to 3 targets at a time.
Marariel would not be tauntable. A deathknight's Death Grip spell would not be able to pull her down to floor level. She would also be immune to fear, entrapment, slow, and silence spells. However, both Shadowbolt Volley and Fear would be on 2 second cast timers and could be interrupted.
